RN - Psychiatric (Nursing) – Concord, MA
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks (04/06/2026 – 07/04/2026)
Shift: Evenings (15:00 – 23:30) | 40 Hours Weekly (5x8s)
Schedule: Every Weekend (Sat & Sun) Required; Every Other Holiday; No On-Call.
Job Summary:
Seeking an experienced Psychiatric Registered Nurse for their North 5 unit. This is a 13-week travel assignment in a high-quality acute care setting located in historic Concord. As a member of the behavioral health team, you will manage acute psychiatric patients during the evening shift, requiring strong clinical assessment skills and a mastery of de-escalation techniques. This role is ideal for a nurse who thrives in an environment that prioritizes patient safety and therapeutic excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Acute Psychiatric Care: Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients in an acute inpatient psychiatric setting.
- Crisis Intervention: Utilize CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) Blue-certified techniques to safely de-escalate agitated patients and manage behavioral emergencies.
- Medication Management: Administer psychotropic medications, monitoring for efficacy and side effects such as extrapyramidal symptoms (EPS).
- Therapeutic Milieu: Lead and maintain a safe therapeutic environment, facilitating group interactions and individualized care plans.
- Clinical Assessment: Conduct thorough mental status exams and ongoing risk assessments for self-harm or aggression.
- Collaborative Care: Coordinate with psychiatrists, social workers, and the multidisciplinary team to prepare for patient discharge and follow-up.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience, including acute care experience.
- Traveler Status: Travel experience is REQUIRED for this position.
- Licensure: Active Massachusetts (MA) RN License.
- Certifications:
- CPI Blue Certification (Mandatory).
- BLS (AHA) – Required.

- Address: Concord, MA 01742.
- Shift Info: Consistent 3p–11:30p schedule. Note: This position requires working every Saturday and Sunday.
Financial & Logistics Notes
- Local Rate: A Rate decrease applies for local candidates.
- Overtime: Weekly OT after 40 hours.

Working the 3p–11:30p shift in an acute psych unit often means managing the "sundowning" period and late-day admissions. Your CPI Blue training will be your most valuable tool as you navigate the shift's peak activity levels. Your ability to maintain a calm, authoritative presence while managing a 40-hour weekly schedule—including every weekend—is essential to the stability of the North 5 unit.
