Qualifications
- Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse (2 years)
Description
- Shift:
- 12-hour shifts, 7:00 am – 7:30 pm
- Monday through Friday
- 2-3 weekends per 6-week scheduling period
- Start Date: May 4, 2026
- Required Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years total NICU III/IV experience
- At least 1 year in Level IV NICU (can combine Level III and IV experience)
- Experience with post-op patients, g-tubes, trach/vent management
- Invasive/non-invasive ventilation experience
- Required Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- WI RN license or compact required
- Vaccines:
- COVID-19 vaccine: Not required
Flu vaccine: Required (Medical/Religious Exemptions only)
- Patient Ratio Experience: 1-3
- Charting System: Epic
- Required Skills:
- Neonates (34 weeks), Dysrhythmia Interpretation/Management
- Invasive Hemodynamic Monitoring, Blood Glucose Monitoring
- Hyperbilirubinemia, Phototherapy, Breastfeeding Support
- Feedings (bottle, breast, gavage), Isolation Precautions/PPE
- Neonatal Sepsis, UAC/UVC, Antibiotics/Antivirals
- Anti-Seizure Medications, Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome
- Tracheostomy care, Ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
- Unit Details:
- 26-bed Level IV NICU
- Care for high acuity neonates with a variety of medical and surgical complexities
- Comprehensive pediatric medical/surgical center
- Facility includes nationally recognized pediatric specialists
- Unit Equipment:
- Ventilators (Draeger, Servo, Oscillator)
- aEEG (not necessary to have experience)
- Whole body cooling (Arctic Sun)
- Float Requirements:
- Float to all AFCH units, including PICU, for patients under 12 months of age
Travelers are first to float
- Travel Compliance & RTO:
- No more than 2 weeks off in a contract
- Weekend rotations and holidays required
- Parking:
- Permit required through UW Transportation
- Alternative transport options (bus, park & ride, private parking)
