Weekends: Rotating (4 days per schedule period/ 4weeks)

About the unit(s):

• Number of Beds - 14
• Number of Staff –  48 direct reports
• Type of staff:
  • Day Shift – 1 CNC, 5-9 staff RNs depending on acuity of unit
  • Night Shift -  1 CNC, 5-9 Staff RNs depending on acuity of unit
• Patient Ratios – 1:1 and 1:2 nurse to pt ratios depending on pt acuity
• Type of equipment -  CRRT, Tablo, IABP, Impella, LVAD, ECMO (VA and VV), RVAD/Centrimag
• EMR – Meditech

Must have:  candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role.

•  Previous cardiac experience.

   

Preferred or nice to have:  candidates with these skills will be considered first.

•  Device Compitencies/ Experience in this order: ECMO, RVAD/LVAD, Impella, IABP, CRRT/Dialysis
• Open Heart recovery experience

List typical procedures performed on unit(s):  

•   CABG/Valve open hearts, ECMO cannulation, IABP, Impella management, Dialysis.
• 13-15 open hearts average per week. Normally 2-3 devices on floor at any one time.

Best personality Fit:

•  Must be able to be comfortable problem solving on own, unit is very helpful but being able to manage self is a huge benefit as the unit is so busy it is not uncommon to have to wait for resource RN to be available to help you, high number of “newer” nurses (<2yrs experience)
• Ability to receive feedback without getting defensive and provide staff to staff accountability to ensure the highest level of care is maintained.
