Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Location: Johnson City Medical Center – Johnson City, TN

Contract Length: 13 Weeks

Start Date: Negotiable

Position Overview

Johnson City Medical Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) on a 13‑week travel assignment. The PCU RN will provide high‑quality, patient‑centered care to individuals requiring close monitoring and advanced nursing interventions.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to PCU patients with complex and evolving medical needs.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, interpreting clinical data and responding appropriately.
• Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and support staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Administer medications, manage IVs, and perform required clinical procedures.
• Document all patient care activities accurately and timely in accordance with facility standards.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and ongoing care needs.
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment while adhering to hospital policies and best practices.

Minimum Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license (state-specific or compact, as applicable).
• Minimum 1 year of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience.
• Relevant RN experience must be within the last 2 years.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical‑thinking skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment.
• BLS and ACLS certifications (facility may require additional credentials).
