Job Title: Surgical Assistant – General/Neuro OR (Day Shift)
 

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Surgical Assistant to support a high-volume Operating Room (OR) specializing in General and Neuro procedures. The ideal candidate will have strong experience assisting in complex surgical cases and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. This is a 1:1 patient care role requiring strong technical skills and adaptability.
 

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist surgeons during General and Neuro surgical procedures
• Maintain sterile field and ensure proper surgical setup
• Handle instruments, suturing, retraction, and hemostasis as required
• Support intraoperative patient care and safety
• Collaborate with surgical team, charge nurses, and OR staff
• Ensure proper use and handling of surgical equipment and technology

Required Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of Surgical Assistant experience
• Strong experience in General and/or Neuro surgeries
• Comfortable with a variety of complex surgical cases
• First-time travelers may be considered with strong experience (not preferred)

Required Certifications:

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• Surgical Assistant Certification from one of the following:
  • NBSTSA
  • ABSA
  • NCCSA

Required Skills:

• Neuro/ENT:
  • Spine surgeries (Laminectomy, ALIF, Fusions, Discectomy)
  • Cranial procedures (tumors, VP shunts, subdural, EVDs)
  • ENT procedures (sinus, neck dissections, basic ENT)
  • Navigation systems (Medtronic, Stryker, Synaptive preferred)
• Orthopedic:
  • Joint replacements, fractures, arthroscopy, spine procedures
  • Experience with surgical tables and positioning equipment
• General Surgery:
  • Laparoscopic, vascular, oncology, GU, GYN procedures
  • Robotic surgery (preferred; training not provided)
