Description

Job Title: Travel Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)

Location: Detroit, MI
Shift: 5x8-Hour Shifts (40 Hours/Week)
Duration: 13 Weeks
 

Job Summary:

The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) performs routine laboratory testing on blood and other body fluids under the supervision of a laboratory technologist or supervisor. This role supports accurate diagnosis and patient care by ensuring precise specimen analysis, proper documentation, and adherence to laboratory protocols. The position will primarily focus on the Chemistry department.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform laboratory testing on blood and other specimens using manual and automated techniques
  • Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and analyzers
  • Ensure accurate specimen collection, labeling, and processing
  • Perform quality control and follow established laboratory protocols
  • Document and report test results accurately
  • Utilize Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) for data entry and reporting
  • Assist with phlebotomy as needed
  • Maintain compliance with safety and regulatory standards

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2–3 years of recent MLT experience
  • Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Laboratory Science (Required)
  • Experience working in Chemistry lab
  • Experience with Beckman Coulter analyzers (AU system preferred)
  • Knowledge of Sunquest LIS and lab automation (Preferred)
  • Strong communication and technical skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Certifications Required:

  • Certification from a recognized national agency (ASCP or NCA)
