Description
Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit
Location: Chapel Hill, North Carolina
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Job Summary
Provide competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards in a hospital setting. Responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process, reporting to the Nurse Manager/Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver care to patients with complex problems, addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
- Perform bedside point of care testing as required.
- Organize and prioritize patient care based on patient and family needs.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to evaluate and revise patient care plans.
- Assess patient and family readiness to learn; use appropriate patient education materials.
- Anticipate and assess discharge needs, supporting patient and family advocacy.
- Participate in unit goals, performance improvement, and promote cost-effective care.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment.
- Communicate effectively within and across departments.
- Stay informed about public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting healthcare.
- Engage in professional growth activities and provide feedback to coworkers.
- Utilize research and current literature to inform practice.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina.
- Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited school of Nursing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN or MSN from an accredited school of Nursing.
