Registered Nurse - Surgery
Location
Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Employment Type
Long-Term Assignment (approximately 13 weeks)
Work Schedule
- Rotating shifts: Four 10-hour shifts (9:00 AM - 7:00 PM or 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM), flexible based on OR volume
- Call hours based on department needs, including holiday call rotating with regular staff
- May require floating onsite within skill set or to nearby sites within 40 miles
Required Experience and Skills
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
- Prior travel assignment completed
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
Required Licenses and Certifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID (must not be expired and address must comply with compact license rules if applicable)
Required Onboarding and Compliance
- Completion of specialty competency exams with minimum 80% passing score (including Ascension Specialty Exam, Core Competencies, EKG Exam)
- Epic test-out and training checklist with signed attestation
- Health requirements including:
- MMR (two vaccines or positive titer, no declinations)
- Varicella immunity or vaccination (no declinations)
- Tdap valid within 10 years (no declinations)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
- 2-step PPD or IGRA testing for TB with annual updates
- Fit test for respiratory protection (preferred before start, can be done onsite)
- Statement of good health or physical exam prior to assignment and updated annually
- Drug screening: 12-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter
- Background checks including criminal, employment, and professional references verification
- Completion of onboarding education attestations and modules specific to nursing contingent workers
- Submission of professional resume/profile and at least two professional references prior to assignment
Additional Notes
- Must be able to demonstrate competency and maintain certifications with periodic renewals every 1-3 years as specified
- Floating to other sites within 40 miles may be required based on operational needs
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
