Description
Behavioral Health - LVN/LPN - Rotating
Orientation Dates: 5/12
- 6-month contract minimum
- Submissions welcome through 5/10
- Same or next day interview – immediate hiring
Length: 26 weeks (min contract, exceptions made for returning nurses)
Hours per week: 40 hours, No OT
- Shifts: 7a-7p with one 4hr shift 7a-11a or 4p-12a x 5 days a week
- Must work Holidays
- First 4 weeks will be M-F 8-5
Shift: Rotating
- 3x12's and 1x4 OR 5x8's
Floating Requirements: Agency nurses are generally pulled first if there’s a need to pull to another unit. Initially, nurses are oriented to multiple assignments before settling in where there’s the biggest need.
RTO: None preferred
Certs: AHA BLS & CPR
Licenses: Active Texas LPN/LVN Licensure
Experience Required:
- 2 years of experience required
- Experience with individuals with dual diagnosis and behavioral challenges is a plus
- Experience needs to be hospital acute care, LTC, community clinics, public health, or psych strongly preferred.
- Facilities will not consider candidates with a hit on their license.
- Experience with a larger med pass
- Nurses with experience in Nursing Homes do better here.
- Home Health, Clinic, and Hospice experience does not prepare a nurse for medication administration like that.
- Agency nurses float first. Please explain expectations.
- Initially nurses are oriented to multiple assignments before settling in where there’s the biggest need.
- If that pull comes months later, they wouldn’t get more orientation at that time. Staff are expected to help identify individuals.
- Need to have clear written and verbal communication skills, they have to communicate with peers, DSPs, PCPs, and also the individuals who live here.
- Must possess valid LVN license.
- Must comply with HHSC immunization requirements.
- Must submit to HHSC required drug test.
- Must submit to HHSC required fingerprinting.
- Must complete facility and HHSC required training.
- Required- 2 references from 2 different places of work in submittal packets
Duties:
1. Administers medications and treatments orally, rectally, internally, or by injection.
2. Performs technical Nursing procedures according to facility and state regulations after demonstration for competency
3. Documents and reports pertinent observations.
4. Communicates orally and in writing to other team members’ pertinent information. Documents according to facility policy.
5. Responds to emergency situations to ensure safety of individuals. Follows safety and Infection Control Procedures of facility.
6. Monitors individuals for treatments and procedures.
7. Collects specimens for laboratory examination and conducts appropriate screening tests (after competency is documented) when requested by lab personnel.
8. Provides education to individuals with specific health goals.
9. LVN II assists other staff in turning/repositioning individuals to administer treatments.
10. Ensures that supplies are available.
11. Manages individual’s medical record in Electronic Health Record or paper chart.
12. Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
