Medical Lab Technician:

📍 Location: Browning, Montana (Blackfeet Community Hospital)

🔹 Position Overview

A Medical Lab Technician supports hospital diagnostics by performing laboratory tests, handling patient specimens, and ensuring accurate, timely reporting of results to assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment.

🔹 Key Responsibilities

1. Laboratory Testing & Analysis

• Perform tests in areas like:
  • Clinical chemistry
  • Hematology
  • Microbiology
  • Blood bank and serology
• Analyze samples and verify accuracy of results before reporting 

2. Specimen Collection & Handling

• Collect blood and other samples (urine, stool, etc.)
• Use techniques like venipuncture and capillary puncture
• Label, prepare, and process specimens correctly 

3. Equipment Operation & Maintenance

• Operate lab instruments (microscopes, analyzers, centrifuges)
• Perform calibration, quality control, and routine maintenance
• Troubleshoot equipment issues when needed 

4. Documentation & Reporting

• Record and verify test results in lab systems
• Maintain logs, reports, and patient records accurately
• Ensure timely communication of results to healthcare staff 

5. Quality & Safety Compliance

• Follow infection control and safety protocols
• Adhere to standards like CLIA, CAP, and hospital policies
• Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment 

6. Team Collaboration

• Work with doctors, nurses, and lab staff
• Support efficient patient diagnosis and care
• Assist in workflow and lab operations 

Certification:

• MLT certification (e.g., ASCP/AMT or equivalent)
• BLS from (AHA)

Experience:

• Minimum 2 years in a clinical lab setting or hospital
• Experience with hospital lab systems preferred
