Job Opportunity: CT Tech
Location: Berlin, Vermont
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (X-ray, CT)
- Unit: Radiology Unit with 3 X-ray rooms in main department and 2 X-ray units at Orthopedics
- Facility Type: Community Teaching Hospital
- Trauma Level: Community Hospital
- Shift: Evening, 4 days a week, 10-hour shifts (3:00 PM – 1:30 AM)
- Floating and call required
- No weekend block schedules; weekend coverage rotates among 5 techs (8 AM – 2 PM)
- Primarily day shifts for general radiology; CT shift Tuesday-Friday 1:30 PM – 11:00 PM
- Patient age range: Newborn to elderly
- Equipment includes Philips, Canon, Carestream, Philips portables, OEC C-arms (9800, Elite Large and mini)
- Documentation system: Epic Radiant EHR, Philips Isite PACS
- Teleradiology reading service utilized
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years clinical experience, including 2 years in specialty (CT/X-ray)
- Prior travel experience is required
- ARRT certification required for CT tech
- Teaching facility experience required
- Recent Epic experience (within past 2 years) is mandatory
- Certifications:
- ARRT (CT)
- ACLS, BLS, PALS (AHA-approved, no RQI-only renewals accepted)
- Valid state license verification within 30 days of start
- National tech certification verification within 30 days of start
- Background check within 30 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification as applicable
- Skills checklist within 12 months
- Work history verification for last 2 years
- Two professional references from assignments within past 3 years
Orientation & Training
- 5 days orientation
- Bi-weekly orientations on Mondays
- Completion of EPIC and Cornerstone modules required prior to start (approx. 8 hours, non-billable)
- Must provide screenshot of module completion
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- N95 fit test required prior to assignment and updated annually (acceptable masks specified)
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or documented exemptions:
- Tdap (within 10 years)
- MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer for measles, mumps, rubella)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B series and titer or signed declination
- Seasonal flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted at this facility)
- COVID vaccination or declination
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT within past 12 months) or chest X-ray if positive TB test
- Drug testing per standard protocol (not required annually for VT facilities)
Additional Requirements & Information
- Reliable personal or rental vehicle strongly recommended; public transportation is not accessible
- Vehicles should have all-season or snow tires November through April
- Dress code: Scrubs, no specific color requirements
- Must complete various facility-specific forms including adult and child abuse registry consent, emergency contact, and COVID questionnaire
- Photo for badge required (passport style, plain light background, no logos or hats)
- Auto insurance required if applicable
- Must comply with facility policies on telephone usage and dress code
- COVID testing protocol on Day 1 of work may require early arrival for testing
- Must maintain mask wearing and social distancing as per facility guidelines
Summary
This is a 13-week travel contract for a CT Tech with evening shifts in a community teaching hospital setting. The role requires a minimum of 2 years of clinical and specialty experience, prior travel experience, ARRT certification, and recent Epic experience. The position involves floating, call, and working with a wide patient age range using advanced imaging equipment. Compliance with extensive health, safety, and documentation requirements is mandatory. Reliable transportation and adherence to facility policies are essential.
