Registered Nurse - OB/GYN Travel Position
Location: Athens, Tennessee
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Provide nursing care on a 14-bed OB/GYN unit with a patient population that includes all ages.
- Unit includes Med Surg, Postpartum, Pediatrics patient care, with Med Surg patients accepted due to low birthrate.
- Patient ratio approximately 1:5 or higher.
- Electronic Health Records used: MedHost and Centricity Perinatal.
- Shift details vary; guaranteed 36 hours per week.
- Weekend hours every other weekend or as needed.
- Call requirements as needed.
- Float to other areas as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum 2 years of OB/GYN nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
- Experience in Med Surg, Postpartum, and Pediatrics nursing.
- Required certifications prior to start: ACLS, AWHONN, BLS, HWC, NRP, PALS.
- Skills in NG tube placement.
Skills and Experience
- Must have skills in IV placement, NG tube placement, and fundal checks.
- Preferred experience in Medical/Surgical nursing.
- Familiarity with common diagnoses and treatments such as bowel obstruction, hip fracture, cholelithiasis, appendicitis, and postpartum care.
Work Environment and Culture
- Professional and team-oriented work environment.
- Dress code: Scrubs of any color allowed; no camouflage or non-facility logo apparel except for the facility’s logo.
Additional Notes
- Orientation occurs bi-weekly on Mondays.
- The facility is a two-campus hospital system offering emergency, inpatient, outpatient, skilled nursing, long-term care, geriatric behavioral health, and advanced wound care services.
- Due to low birthrate, nurses must be flexible to care for medical surgical patients on the OB/GYN floor.
