Description
Job Opportunity: PCU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night shift, 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), Monday through Friday, every other weekend and some holidays required
Hours per Week: 36
Job Description
- Work in Intermediate Care (IMC) Acute Med/Progressive Care and IMC Thoracic units
- Patient population includes telemetry oncology, cardiac, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown units
- Ventilator and transplant patient care experience required
- Telemetry test must be passed prior to start
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
- Experience in an inpatient setting
- Telemetry experience
- Ventilator (vent) experience
- Transplant experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Compliance and Background Requirements
- Background check within 90 days prior to start, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years
- Wisconsin Caregiver Background Check and BID form required
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire and monitored monthly
- Education verification as applicable
- Drug screening required per standard clinical guidelines
- Physical exam collected to meet agency standards (not facility required)
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Proof of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity or approved medical/religious exemption
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or approved declination form
- Varicella immunity or approved exemption
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required annually during flu season)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination proof as applicable
Testing and Orientation
- Telemetry testing:
- Adult Telemetry Test must be completed 2 Fridays prior to start and updated annually
- Candidates allowed 3 attempts with remediation required after 2nd failure
- Failure after 3rd attempt results in contract cancellation
- Orientation includes safety manual acknowledgment and pass/fail telemetry testing acknowledgment
Additional Requirements
- Photo for badge (passport-style, no selfies or headwear except religious/medical)
- Signed acknowledgment of Joint Commission Safety Manual
- Employment application and skills checklist required annually
- Two clinical references within the last 3 years (agency standard)
