Description
We are seeking a sharp, highly skilled Progressive Care (PCU) Registered Nurse for a fast-paced, high-acuity Cardiac and Medical PCU at IU Health Arnett Hospital. This unit acts as a True ICU Stepdown, managing complex cardiac patients, heart caths, BiPAP, and vasoactive infusions.

- License Requirement: Active Indiana State RN license MUST be in hand at the time of submission. Pending licenses are not accepted.
- Experience: Minimum of 18 months of acute care nursing experience is required.
- Education Requirement: The traveler's nursing university must be accredited by ACEN or CCNE at the time of graduation.
- Submission Details: Full SSN, DOB, and two (2) supervisory references from the past year are required upfront to submit.
- Local Policy: Indiana residents are considered local and are NOT accepted for this PCU position (locals are barred from MS, PCU, ICU, and ER roles).
- IU Health System Restrictions: * Any permanent or PRN employee of IU Health must be separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler.
- Consecutive Contract Policy: Current or past IU Health travelers who have hit 12 months of total travel employment anywhere in the system must complete a consecutive, un-split break to reset eligibility (90 days for out-of-state residents, 180 days for in-state residents).
Clinical Expectations & Special Requirements
- Core Competencies: Proficiency in Telemetry, IV Starts, BiPAP, and High-Flow Oxygen management is strictly required.
- Drip Management: Must be experienced and comfortable managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (Levo, Dopa, Nitro, Cardizem, Amio).
- Preferred Skills: Ventilator experience, Charge Nurse experience, and Conscious Sedation skills are highly preferred.
- Ratios & Logistics: 194 staffed beds short-term acute care facility. Charting is done via Cerner.
- Uniform: Red scrub top with Black scrub bottoms.
Scheduling & RTO Rules
- Weekend/Holidays: Weekend rotation is required. Travelers must work 2 out of 3 major summer holidays.
- Time Off: Auto-approval is limited to 5 days or less of non-holiday RTO. Anything more requires formal facility approval.
- Floating: 100% required of all travelers. You will float within your clinical scope to cross-units or nearby affiliate hospitals to meet facility needs.
- On-Call: No on-call requirement.
- Travel Pairs: This unit does NOT accept travel pairs.
