TECHNICAL SKILLS

Must Have

  • o Drips: amiodarone, Cardizem, Pricor, Dobutamine, Nitro, Heparin
  • o General nursing skills, continual bipap, VADs, heart and lung transplants, trachs, chest tubes, PIV starts
JOB DESCRIPTION ● Unit Information: o Beds: 21 o Minimum Years of Experience required? 1 year PCU experience o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes ● Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: o Advanced heart failure unit o VADs, heart transplants, lung transplants, pulmonary hypertension ● Patient Ratios: o Immediate level: 1:4-5 o New VADS/transplants: 1:3 ● Required License, National Certification, Certs: o BLS, NIHSS ● Skills required: o General nursing skills, continual bipap, VADs, heart and lung transplants, trachs, chest tubes, PIV starts o Drips: amiodarone, Cardizem, Pricor, Dobutamine, Nitro, Heparin ● Support within the Department: o 2 PCA/CNA on Days and Nights o 1 Unit Secretary on Days o Respiratory Therapy 24/7 o Cardiology Fellow in house ● Technology/Equipment: o EMR: Cerner o IV Pump: ICU Medical o Med dispensing: Omnicell o Monitors: Phillips o Unit specific equipment: Bedside monitors, Bladder scan, VAD equipment, V60, Vision ● Floating: If yes, where? o Yes, could float to PCU, MedSurg, Tele, or Mixed Acuity units o Travelers float first in rotation with other travelers
