Position Overview
Summa Health System is seeking an experienced X-Ray Technologist (Radiology Technician) to join its busy Diagnostic Radiology Department at the Akron Campus. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled imaging professional to work in a fast-paced Level I Trauma Center, providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services to a diverse patient population.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, excellent patient care skills, and prior experience working in a high-volume trauma environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic radiographic examinations according to physician orders and departmental protocols.
- Produce high-quality diagnostic images while maintaining radiation safety standards.
- Properly position patients and operate radiographic equipment efficiently and safely.
- Assist with select advanced imaging procedures as trained and required.
- Monitor patient condition during imaging procedures and respond appropriately to emergencies.
- Maintain accurate patient records and imaging documentation within hospital information systems.
- Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
- Adhere to infection control, patient safety, and quality assurance standards.
- Utilize hospital and radiology computer systems for scheduling, documentation, and image management.
- Demonstrate sensitivity and professionalism while interacting with patients from diverse populations.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Radiologic Technology.
Certifications & Licensure
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) Certification or registry eligible.
- Active Ohio Radiographer License.
- BLS Certification (American Heart Association preferred).
- CPR competency required.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of recent X-Ray/Diagnostic Radiology experience.
- Required: Previous experience in a Level I Trauma Center.
- Experience working in a high-volume, fast-paced hospital environment strongly preferred.
- Training and competency in performing additional radiology procedures, including select CT procedures, preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of radiographic positioning techniques and imaging protocols.
- Ability to safely lift, transfer, and position patients.
- Proficiency in operating, calibrating, and troubleshooting radiology equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a busy trauma setting.
- Experience with hospital information systems, PACS, and radiology documentation systems.
