Description

Travel RN – Emergency Department (Level I Trauma)

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of ER experience
  • Minimum 6 months recent Level I Trauma experience (required)
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS
  • Preferred: TNCC, ATCN
  • Must pass Dysrhythmia (DYS) exam before contract acceptance (2 attempts max)
  • Must pass Day 1 exam and SIMs Lab (sterile technique competency)

Assignment Details:

  • 12-hour night shifts
  • 4 weekend shifts every 4 weeks
  • Holidays based on unit coverage
  • Charting: Cerner
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4

Unit Highlights:

  • Level I Trauma Center
  • Approximately 88,000 annual visits (250–300 patients/day)
  • Common cases: Trauma, burns, chest pain, behavioral health/psych holds, emergency medical and surgical patients
  • Telemetry interpretation required
  • RT, Pharmacy, and Provider coverage available 24/7

Float Requirements:

  • May float between:
    • St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center
    • St. Joseph's Westgate Medical Center
    • Free-standing ER locations in Litchfield Park and Glendale
  • Floating may occur mid-shift
  • Travelers must have reliable personal transportation

Additional Requirements:

  • 50-mile radius rule applies (driver's license required with submission)
  • No local rates
  • Navy scrubs
  • Natural hair colors only
  • No facial piercings
  • Male staff must be clean-shaven for fit testing

Orientation:

  • Hospital orientation plus 2–3 ED orientation shifts
  • SIMs Lab includes Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes (pass/fail) with strict sterile-field expectations.
