Director of Nursing

Location: Chamberlain, South Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Provide clinical and administrative leadership to maintain and improve patient care standards.
• Implement vision, mission, and strategic plans for clinical services.
• Develop and execute clinical programs, policies, procedures, and protocols ensuring system integration and regulatory compliance.
• Oversee all nursing departments including ER, Med Surg, OR, OB, Critical Care, Ambulatory Care, Trauma, Cardiac Rehab, Respiratory, Telemetry Respiratory Services, and Telehealth services.
• Manage approximately 80 nursing staff members and a dedicated administrative assistant.
• Participate in patient care, primarily in ER, Med Surg, OB, and Critical Care.
• Support a rural community hospital with a daily census of about 8 patients and approximately 5,000 ER visits annually.
• Share on-call duties with clinical nursing leaders to maintain work-life balance.
• Surgery schedule includes elective surgeries on Mondays and Tuesdays; on-call team performs C-sections as needed 24/7.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in South Dakota
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Experience in management roles
• Acute care experience
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• TNCC certification
