- Shift: 12-Hour Nights | 18:30 – 07:00
- On-Call Requirement: Yes (Active call requirement applies to this contract)
- Holiday Coverage: Expected based on departmental rotation
Role & Clinical Overview
The Registered Nurse on the 11 West Medical/Surgical unit is responsible for providing direct, high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced clinical setting. This role requires excellent critical thinking skills, decisive clinical judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a high-acuity environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Care Coordination: Act as the primary coordinator of all clinical disciplines to ensure a well-integrated patient care plan.
- Patient Monitoring: Assess, implement, monitor, and record patient conditions, executing physician and nursing orders promptly.
- Discharge Planning: Collaborate with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate and facilitate patient discharge planning needs.
- Safety Protocols: Maintain high safety standards by strictly following standard precautions and utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE).
Unit Description & Specifications
This is a robust, clinical environment located within a premier Level I Trauma Center serving patients of all age groups.
- Unit Capacity: 29-bed Medical-Surgical unit.
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: Manageable 1:5 to 1:6 patient ratios.
- Clinical Support: Fully supported by Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) and a dedicated Healthcare Unit Coordinator.
- Advanced Monitoring: Access to virtual sitter monitoring systems and dedicated monitor technicians to oversee patients with active telemetry orders.
Position Requirements
Experience & Licensure
- Clinical Experience: Strong background in acute care Medical-Surgical nursing with competency in caring for telemetry-monitored patients.
- State Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Oklahoma (or an active Compact/Multistate RN license) in good standing.
Certifications
- Required Certifications: Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required at the time of submission.
