Description
Schedule & Requirements
- Position: PCU RN – 9 South Neuro/Stroke Unit
- Shift: 12-Hour Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Schedule: 36 hours per week
- Contract Length: 89 days (13 weeks)
- First-Time Travelers: Not accepted
- EMR: Cerner
- Parking: Free onsite parking
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of PCU experience required
- 3 years preferred
- Strong experience with:
- Neuro patients
- Stroke care
- Intermediate/Progressive Care patients
- Telemetry monitoring
- High-acuity neurological assessments
Required Certifications
- BLS
- NIHSS
- Active RN License
Key Responsibilities
- Provide care for stroke, neuro, and neurosurgical overflow patients.
- Perform comprehensive neurological assessments and NIH Stroke Scale evaluations.
- Monitor patients following:
- Ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes
- Intracranial hemorrhage (ICH)
- Thrombolytic (tPA) therapy
- Mechanical thrombectomy procedures
- Conduct EKG rhythm interpretation and telemetry monitoring.
- Manage:
- Heparin infusions
- Argatroban therapy
- Port access and maintenance
- Stable High-Flow Oxygen Therapy
- BiPAP therapy
- Insert and manage NG and Dobhoff feeding tubes.
- Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection when required.
- Collaborate with physicians, intensivists, respiratory therapists, vascular access teams, and rapid response teams.
- Float to other mixed-acuity units as needed.
