Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacist to join a healthcare team in a contract capacity. The Pharmacist will be responsible for ensuring the safe, accurate, and effective dispensing of medications while providing exceptional pharmaceutical care to patients and collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

This position requires strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and regulatory compliance.
 

Key Responsibilities

• Review, verify, and accurately dispense prescription medications.
• Evaluate medication orders for appropriateness, dosing accuracy, allergies, drug interactions, and contraindications.
• Counsel patients on medication usage, dosage, side effects, storage, and adherence.
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to optimize medication therapy.
• Monitor patient medication regimens and recommend therapeutic alternatives when appropriate.
• Maintain complete and accurate pharmacy documentation and patient records.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational pharmacy regulations.
• Manage controlled substances according to DEA and state guidelines.
• Supervise and support pharmacy technicians and ancillary staff.
• Participate in medication safety initiatives and quality improvement programs.
• Maintain inventory, monitor medication expiration dates, and assist with procurement activities.
• Respond promptly to medication-related inquiries from healthcare providers and patients.

Required Qualifications

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited institution.
• Active and unrestricted Pharmacist license in the applicable state.
• Minimum of 1–2 years of recent pharmacist experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of pharmacology, medication therapy management, and clinical pharmacy practices.
• Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and pharmacy management systems.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hospital, retail, ambulatory care, or clinical pharmacy experience.
• Experience with medication reconciliation and patient counseling.
• Board certification or advanced clinical certifications are a plus.

Required Certifications

• Active Pharmacist License
• Basic Life Support (BLS) (if required by facility)
• Immunization Certification (preferred for retail/ambulatory settings)
