🔥 PREMIUM MID-SHIFT OPERATING ROOM RN CONTRACT – TIER 5 SURGICAL SPECIALTIES

 

First Connect Health has an immediate 17-week travel opening for a highly specialized Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse (RN) in Madison, Wisconsin. Operating within the nation-leading, Magnet-designated University Hospital network, this high-acuity Tier 5 position focuses on a specialized blend of Urology, Gynecology/Oncology, and Transplant surgery lines. 💰 PRE-CALCULATED PAY PACKAGE

  • Weekly Gross: $2,642.00
  • Weekly Tax-Free Stipend: $1,526.00
  • Hourly W2 Rate: $31.00/hr
  • Overtime Rate: $46.50/hr

📅 SHIFT & POSITION DETAILS

  • Schedule: Day/Evening mid-shifts, 3x12-Hours. Standard operational block variations run from 09:40 AM to 22:10 PM, Monday through Friday. Orientation Schedule Notice: The first two onboarding weeks require a structured 5x8 daytime schedule running Monday through Friday from 06:40 AM to 15:10 PM. Block scheduling is not available.
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 regular hours guaranteed weekly.
  • Patient Ratios: Strict 1:1 intraoperative care models.
  • On-Call Requirements: Active weekend call rotation is required to meet facility trauma and emergency transplant needs.
  • EMR Charting System: Epic. Experience is a strict requirement.
  • Clinical Scope & Advanced Robotics: Highly specialized intraoperative service delivery tracking across advanced urological robots, GYN robots, and the Da Vinci Xi Surgical System.
  • Surgical Interventions & Case Mix: Comprehensive surgical support covering kidney transplants, pancreas transplants, organ procurements, neobladders, cystectomies, prostatectomies, HOLEP, percutaneous and robotic nephrectomies, ureteroscopies, laparoscopic gynecology lines, abdominal/vaginal hysterectomies, and anterior/posterior colporrhaphy repairs.
  • Core Responsibilities: Strict universal protocol (Time Out) execution, blood/blood product administration, infection control, specimen handling/labeling, bladder catheterization, electrosurgical safety, wound management, and active laser/radiation safety compliance. Ready to assist anesthesia during induction and manage emergency protocols including Malignant Hyperthermia code response.

🚨 REQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUBMISSION

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of active acute care OR experience within the last 3 years. Must have strong, documented proficiency across Urology, Gynecology/Oncology, kidney/pancreas transplant, and robotic surgical lines to clear vetting. Experience in an Academic Level I or II trauma center or similar-sized facility is highly preferred.
  • Licensure: Valid Wisconsin State Nursing License or a valid Multi-State Compact RN License must be active at submission.
  • Certifications Required: Active AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is strictly mandatory (AHA cards only).
  • Vaccine Guidelines: Facility mandates full compliance with standard Influenza vaccination rules (approved medical or religious exemptions are accepted). COVID-19 vaccine is not required.

📍 Strict 50-Mile Geographical Local Radius Rule: A rigid 50-mile local radius policy applies to this system. Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility campus center are not accepted under these travel parameters. ⚡ Mandatory Pre-Start Pass/Fail Telemetry Exam: Clinicians must clear a strict telemetry interpretation exam prior to their official start date. Testing parameters permit a maximum of 2 initial attempts with a required passing threshold of 80 or higher, requiring 100% accuracy on lethal rhythms (V-Fib, V-Tach, Asystole) and allowing zero incorrect answers regarding 3rd-degree heart blocks. 🚗 Facility Floating & Parking Regulations: Travelers are required to float flexibly as needed based on hospital demands across units. Onsite parking requires a permit through UW Transportation; alternative local transit, park & ride networks, or private parking lots are recommended. 🏖️ Upfront Requested Time Off (RTO) Limits: A maximum of 2 pre-approved RTO block requests can be detailed under current system guidelines. All desired time off must be explicitly disclosed at the exact moment of initial submission. 📋 Hard Submission Vetting Checklist: Submittals must include explicit RTO notes, verified license status, and complete copies of active certifications (BLS, and Epic competency within 12 months).
