Job Summary
 

Seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse to provide perioperative nursing care in a fast-paced surgical environment. The RN will collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective patient care throughout the surgical process. Candidates must be comfortable supporting a wide range of surgical specialties and participating in a teaching environment.
 

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive perioperative nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures.
• Function effectively in circulating and perioperative nursing roles.
• Maintain sterile technique and enforce infection prevention standards.
• Coordinate patient care with surgeons, anesthesia teams, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Verify patient identification, procedure, and surgical site using Universal Protocol and Time-Out procedures.
• Manage surgical instruments, equipment, and specimens according to established policies.
• Ensure accurate documentation within the electronic medical record.
• Provide safe handling and labeling of surgical specimens.
• Participate in on-call coverage as required.
• Support the education and training of students and new staff in a teaching-hospital environment.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room nursing experience.
• Current BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification preferred.
• Experience in a General Operating Room setting.
• Ability to work in a teaching facility and support staff/student training.

• Epic charting experience.
• Previous teaching hospital experience.
