Job Title: SCAHC Technician Operations Tech Lead Pharmacist

Job Summary

The SCAHC Technician Operations Tech Lead Pharmacist is responsible for providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care while leading and coordinating pharmacy technician operations to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient medication management. This role oversees daily pharmacy workflows, supports regulatory compliance, maintains quality assurance standards, and provides leadership, training, and mentorship to pharmacy technicians. The Tech Lead Pharmacist collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize medication therapy, enhance patient safety, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational guidelines.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise daily pharmacy technician operations to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality patient care.
  • Review, verify, and dispense medications in accordance with physician orders and established clinical protocols.
  • Provide clinical consultation to healthcare providers regarding medication therapy, dosing, drug interactions, and pharmacotherapy recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, tribal, and organizational pharmacy regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Oversee medication inventory management, procurement, storage, and controlled substance accountability.
  • Develop and implement pharmacy operational policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate pharmacy technicians to promote professional growth and operational excellence.
  • Monitor medication safety practices and participate in medication error prevention and adverse drug event reporting.
  • Maintain accurate pharmacy documentation and electronic health records (EHR) in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary patient care rounds and collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize treatment outcomes.
  • Assist with formulary management, medication utilization reviews, and pharmacy performance improvement activities.
  • Ensure proper handling, labeling, packaging, and distribution of medications.
  • Support emergency preparedness activities and respond to pharmacy-related clinical emergencies as needed.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and organizational privacy policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited institution.
  • Active and unrestricted Pharmacist license in the applicable state.
  • Minimum of 2–5 years of pharmacy experience, preferably in a hospital, ambulatory care, or government healthcare setting.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience overseeing pharmacy technicians preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy operations, medication safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Cerner, Epic, or RPMS preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.

Preferred Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (if required by the facility).
  • Advanced pharmacy certifications or specialty certifications are preferred.
  • Immunization certification preferred where applicable.
