Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Pharmacy Retail Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of a retail pharmacy while ensuring exceptional patient care, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will provide leadership to pharmacy staff, maintain workflow efficiency, ensure medication safety, and support high-quality pharmacy services in accordance with federal, state, and organizational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily retail pharmacy operations to ensure efficient workflow and outstanding customer service.
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support staff.
- Ensure accurate dispensing, labeling, and verification of prescription medications.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, DEA, HIPAA, and Board of Pharmacy regulations.
- Monitor inventory levels, controlled substances, and medication storage to minimize waste and ensure product availability.
- Resolve patient concerns, medication-related issues, and customer service inquiries professionally.
- Oversee prescription processing, insurance adjudication, and third-party billing activities.
- Implement quality assurance initiatives and medication safety programs.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient medication therapy and outcomes.
- Ensure completion of required documentation, audits, and regulatory reporting.
- Train new employees and promote ongoing staff development and competency.
- Support immunization services, medication therapy management (MTM), and other clinical pharmacy programs where applicable.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited institution.
- Active, unrestricted Pharmacist license in the applicable state.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of retail pharmacy experience, including supervisory or leadership responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy operations, medication management, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience with pharmacy management systems and electronic prescription platforms.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and commitment to patient-centered care.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous retail pharmacy management or supervisory experience.
- Immunization certification.
- Medication Therapy Management (MTM) experience.
- Experience with inventory management, budgeting, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Advanced certifications relevant to pharmacy practice are preferred.
