Schedule: Monday – Friday | 2:30 PM – 10:30 PM | 40 Hours per Week
Position Overview
CVS Health is seeking compassionate, patient-focused Registered Nurses (RNs) to support its statewide Vaccination Initiative across retail pharmacy locations in California. This role is ideal for experienced nurses who are passionate about preventive healthcare and community wellness.
As an Immunization Nurse, you will administer CDC-recommended vaccines, educate patients, assess for contraindications, monitor for adverse reactions, and maintain accurate clinical documentation while delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced retail healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer immunizations including Influenza, COVID-19, MMR, Hepatitis, RSV, Shingles, Pneumonia, Tdap, and other CDC-recommended vaccines.
- Perform patient assessments prior to vaccination and identify contraindications when appropriate.
- Monitor patients following immunization and respond appropriately to adverse reactions.
- Educate patients regarding vaccine benefits, risks, possible side effects, and post-vaccination care.
- Accurately document all patient encounters and vaccinations using electronic documentation systems.
- Ensure compliance with CDC guidelines, California Board of Nursing regulations, infection prevention standards, and CVS Health policies.
- Maintain vaccine inventory, proper storage, handling, and cold-chain compliance.
- Collaborate with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and healthcare professionals to ensure efficient clinic operations.
- Deliver outstanding customer service while promoting a positive patient experience.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
- Adapt to changing clinic workflows and operational needs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted California Registered Nurse (RN) License.
- Minimum one (1) year of clinical nursing experience.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification.
- Recent experience administering immunizations.
- Strong patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and patient education abilities.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced retail healthcare environment.
- Basic computer proficiency and experience with EMR/EHR documentation.
- Verifiable High School Diploma or GED.
- Must not appear on any federal or state exclusion list.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in retail clinics, occupational health, employee health, public health, urgent care, or vaccination clinics.
- Experience with high-volume immunization programs.
- Familiarity with CVS Health or Aetna systems (preferred but not required).
- Strong customer service and patient engagement skills.
