Location: Prairie Village, Kansas (Float Role)
Job Type: Full-Time Contract
Contract Duration: August 23, 2026 – November 30, 2026
Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday | 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM (20 Hours/Week)
Setting: Retail Pharmacy / Community Vaccination Clinics
Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join a community-based vaccination initiative as an Immunization Nurse Float. In this patient-facing role, you will administer a wide range of immunizations, including Influenza, COVID-19, MMR, and other CDC-recommended vaccines, while delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care across assigned retail pharmacy locations.
The ideal candidate is clinically skilled, adaptable, customer-focused, and committed to promoting public health through immunization services.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer immunizations including Influenza, COVID-19, MMR, Hepatitis, Tdap, Shingles, Pneumonia, RSV, and other routine vaccines in accordance with CDC and state guidelines.
- Perform patient screening, vaccine eligibility assessments, and review medical histories before vaccination.
- Educate patients regarding vaccine benefits, possible side effects, aftercare instructions, and answer immunization-related questions.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions following vaccine administration and respond appropriately to medical emergencies.
- Maintain accurate electronic documentation of all vaccinations and patient encounters.
- Follow established infection prevention, medication safety, and vaccine storage/handling protocols.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, CDC, state regulations, and company policies.
- Collaborate effectively with pharmacists, healthcare providers, and pharmacy support staff.
- Maintain vaccine inventory, supplies, and clinical equipment.
- Adapt to varying clinic schedules and float to assigned retail locations as needed.
- Deliver exceptional customer service while creating a welcoming and professional patient experience.
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Kansas (or compact license if applicable).
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience, including immunization administration.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- Experience administering multiple vaccines to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.
- Strong clinical assessment and medication administration skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient education abilities.
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced retail healthcare environment.
- Flexible with scheduling and work locations.
- Must not be listed on the DEA Excluded Parties List.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous retail clinic, community health, occupational health, or vaccination clinic experience.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) documentation.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to efficiently manage high-volume vaccination clinics.
