Job Title: Immunization Registered Nurse (RN) – Float

Location: Lenexa, Kansas (66220)
Job Type: Full-Time Contract
Duration: August 23, 2026 – November 30, 2026
Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday | 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM (20 Hours/Week)
Work Setting: Retail Pharmacy / Community Vaccination Program
 

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join a community-based vaccination initiative supporting CVS Health's retail pharmacy locations. As an Immunization Nurse Float, you will play a vital role in administering a wide range of immunizations while delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced retail healthcare environment.

The ideal candidate is clinically skilled, adaptable, patient-focused, and passionate about improving public health through preventive care.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer a variety of vaccines including Influenza (Flu), COVID-19, MMR, Hepatitis, Shingles, Pneumonia, Tdap, HPV, RSV, and other CDC-recommended immunizations according to established protocols.
  • Assess patients prior to vaccination, reviewing medical history and identifying contraindications.
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions following immunization and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all vaccinations and patient encounters.
  • Educate patients regarding vaccine benefits, possible side effects, and post-vaccination care.
  • Adhere to CDC, state, OSHA, HIPAA, and infection prevention guidelines.
  • Utilize proper PPE and maintain a safe clinical environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with pharmacists, healthcare providers, and pharmacy support staff.
  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Maintain vaccine inventory, storage, handling, and cold-chain compliance.
  • Demonstrate flexibility with scheduling and support various vaccination initiatives as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Kansas (or compact license if applicable).
  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience, preferably including immunization or outpatient/community health experience.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • Experience administering vaccinations independently.
  • Excellent patient assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Comfortable working in a retail pharmacy environment.
  • Must not appear on the DEA Excluded Parties List.
  • High School Diploma/GED (verification required).
  • Prior CVS/Aetna experience is not required.
  • Must be flexible with work hours based on business needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous retail clinic, occupational health, urgent care, or public health experience.
  • Strong knowledge of CDC immunization schedules and vaccine administration guidelines.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems.
  • Experience in high-volume vaccination clinics.
