Job Title: Immunization Registered Nurse (RN) – Float
Location: Olathe, Kansas (CVS Retail Pharmacy)
Job Type: Full-Time Contract
Contract Duration: August 23, 2026 – November 30, 2026
Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday | 2:30 PM – 6:30 PM (20 Hours/Week)
Work Setting: Onsite | Retail Pharmacy Vaccination Clinic
Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, patient-focused, and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join a community-based vaccination initiative. The selected candidate will administer a wide range of immunizations, including Influenza, COVID-19, MMR, and other CDC-recommended vaccines, while providing exceptional patient care in a retail healthcare environment.
The ideal candidate is clinically confident, adaptable, and passionate about preventive healthcare. This role requires strong communication skills, flexibility with scheduling, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, patient-facing setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer a variety of immunizations, including Influenza, COVID-19, MMR, Hepatitis A & B, Tdap/Td, HPV, Shingrix (Herpes Zoster), Pneumococcal, Meningococcal, RSV, Varicella, Polio, and other CDC-recommended vaccines.
- Perform patient assessments prior to vaccine administration.
- Review medical histories, allergies, contraindications, and immunization records.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions following immunization and provide appropriate interventions when necessary.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with company policies and state regulations.
- Educate patients regarding vaccine benefits, possible side effects, and post-vaccination care.
- Follow CDC infection prevention and vaccine storage/handling guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with all OSHA, HIPAA, and company policies.
- Maintain vaccine inventory and ensure proper cold-chain management.
- Collaborate effectively with pharmacists, healthcare providers, and clinic staff.
- Provide exceptional customer service while promoting a positive patient experience.
- Adapt to changing clinic workflows and support multiple vaccination initiatives.
- Demonstrate flexibility with work schedules based on business needs.
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Kansas.
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience, preferably in immunization, public health, ambulatory care, urgent care, occupational health, or primary care.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- Strong clinical skills in medication administration and vaccine delivery.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and patient education skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced retail healthcare environment.
- Flexibility with scheduling and work hours.
- Must not be listed on the DEA Excluded Parties List.
- High School Diploma or GED (verification required).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous immunization or vaccination clinic experience.
- Experience administering high-volume vaccination programs.
- Retail clinic or community health experience.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and immunization documentation systems.
- Experience educating patients on preventive healthcare and immunization schedules.
