Shift

• 12-hour Nights
• Time: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend and every other holiday
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week (3 shifts)

Contract

• Duration: 13 weeks (91 days)

Unit Information

• Department: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
• Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital
• Trauma Level: II
• Beds: 8 (Average census: 4–5 patients)
• Charting System: Cerner

Patient Ratio

• 1:1 or 1:2 depending on patient acuity

Common Patient Diagnoses

• Respiratory conditions
• Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
• Trauma (MVAs, head injuries, fractures)
• Post-surgical pediatric patients
• Seizures/Neurological conditions
• Overdose
• Suicide attempts

Required Experience

• Minimum 1 year of PICU experience
• Experience with:
  • Intubated patients
  • Ventilator management
  • Running/titrating drips
  • Sedation
  • ICP monitoring
  • EVD management
  • Emergency/critical care situations
  • Drawing labs
• ECMO experience is not required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Travel duos accepted (same weekends only, not same schedule)

Required Certifications

• BLS (AHA)
• PALS (AHA)
• TNCC preferred (not required)

Drips

• Cardiac drips
• Insulin
• Heparin
• Sedation medications
• RNs must titrate drips

Equipment Used

• Ventilators
• CPAP
• BiPAP
• NAVA
• Vapotherm
• Heliox

Staffing

• Charge nurse may take patients if needed
• No Nurse Aides on the unit
• Residents in-house 24/7
• Intensivist available within 10 minutes

Floating

• Pediatrics
• NICU (if experienced)
• Adult units as an observer based on census

Scheduling

• Self-scheduling (tiered process)
• No block scheduling
• No call or standby

Orientation

• 1 day hospital orientation
• 2 days unit orientation

Special Notes

• Must disclose if the clinician has previously worked for Marshfield.
• Previous Marshfield employees must have been separated for at least 6 months before submission.
• Clinicians must clock in and out at the facility.

Local Candidate Policy

• Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local.
• Local rates are $8.00/hour lower than the travel rate.

License Required

• Active RN license required for submission.
