Job Overview
We're seeking a compassionate and skilled Travel Acute Rehabilitation Registered Nurse to join a specialized rehabilitation unit caring for patients recovering from complex neurological injuries, trauma, and other life-changing conditions. This role is ideal for an RN with strong acute care experience who enjoys helping patients regain independence while working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
Unit Highlights
- 23-bed Acute Rehabilitation Unit
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6–7
- Traveler-friendly team and supportive culture
- First-time travelers considered with manager approval
Patient Population
- Spinal Cord Injuries (SCI)
- Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI)
- Stroke (CVA)
- Multi-trauma patients
- Burn patients
- Adult amputees
- High-acuity rehabilitation patients
Note: Travelers are not expected to care for pediatric patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care for complex rehabilitation patients.
- Perform neurological and respiratory assessments.
- Manage tracheostomies, ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP, and pulmonary patients.
- Care for patients with PICC lines, central lines, IV therapy, and TPN.
- Provide wound care and manage surgical drains and tubes.
- Manage G-tubes and PEG tube feedings.
- Collaborate with physicians, rehabilitation specialists, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Educate patients and families throughout the recovery process.
- Maintain accurate documentation using Cerner EMR.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum 1 year of recent acute care nursing experience.
- Current BLS certification.
- Current NIHSS certification.
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills.

- Trach and ventilator care

Th recruiters are super nice and helpful.
Cons
Lack benefits and perks other companies offer. Was incorrectly paid more than once. The assignment was the worst I’ve experienced from management down to housekeeping. They nitpick travelers on every level and give them double the respiratory therapist to patient ratio with every assignment spread over multiple floors and areas on every side of the facility. Staff makes no attempt at teamwork. Bottom line: Malone is ok🥴 but has MUCH room to improve. Elizabethtown, KY is awful and puts their patients and your license at risk every shift. Don’t do it!
