Weekend Shift | Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room (OR) Circulator
 

Location: Madison, WI 53792
Facility Address: 600 Highland Ave, Madison, WI 53792
Shift: Day/Evening | 3x12 Hours (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
Schedule: Friday, Saturday, Sunday | No Call
 

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) Circulator to support a high-acuity surgical environment at a Level I Trauma Center. The ideal candidate will have strong experience across multiple surgical service lines, including Neuro, Orthopedic, Transplant, Trauma, and Vascular procedures.

This role requires an independent circulator who is comfortable managing complex cases, including emergency cases (E-cases), trauma, transplant, endovascular, and advanced surgical procedures.
 

Schedule

  • Day/Evening Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
  • 3x12-hour shifts
  • No scheduled call
  • Will consider weekday/day shift candidates if skills requirements are met

Minimum Requirements

  • Active RN License required
  • BLS certification required (AHA Only)
  • Previous OR Circulator experience required
  • Must be able to circulate independently on off shifts
  • Travel experience required
    • First-time travelers may be considered only with a minimum of 5 years of experience working in a Level I Trauma facility
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Level I or Level II Trauma experience preferred

  • Craniotomy
  • Laminectomy/Discectomy
  • Lumbar Fusion

Orthopedics

  • Closed Reduction of Fractures
  • Open Reduction of Fractures
  • Ortho/Spine Procedures

Transplant

Strong transplant experience required:

  • Kidney Transplant
  • Liver Transplant
  • Organ Donation
  • Pancreas Transplant
  • Intestinal Transplant

Vascular / Endovascular

Required vascular experience includes:

  • Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair
  • Carotid Procedures
  • Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR)
  • Femoral Popliteal Bypass Graft
  • Renal Artery Bypass Surgery
  • TEVAR (Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair)
  • Arteriovenous Fistula Repair
  • Vascular Access Procedures

Trauma

Experience with:

  • Level I Trauma Cases
  • Emergency Cases (E-cases)
  • Multiple Injury/MVA Trauma
  • Amputations
  • Burns
  • Gunshot/Stab Wounds

Required Skills & Responsibilities

The RN will:

  • Participate as part of the Operating Room multidisciplinary team
  • Plan and coordinate patient care in the OR
  • Communicate effectively with surgical teams and support staff
  • Coordinate OR activities to improve efficiency and case progression
  • Assist with turnover between surgical cases
  • Float and circulate across multiple service lines as needed
  • Participate in trauma and emergency cases
