Contract

• 13 weeks
• Nights
• 12-hour shifts
• 36 hours per week

Unit Overview

• Medical-surgical, progressive care, and telemetry nursing on a neuro trauma unit
• 28 beds
• Patient population includes neuro and trauma/orthopedic cases

Required Qualifications

• Active RN role
• BLS and NIHSS
• 2 years of medical-surgical, progressive care, or ICU experience
• Recent experience in the setting within the last year
• Drip titration experience
• Experience with trachs and vents is important
• Must be open to learning vents
• Open to first-time travelers

Schedule and Work Expectations

• Self-scheduling with manager balancing
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required
• No call requirement
• Floating required to sister medical-surgical units
• Charge nurse takes an assignment

Clinical Details

• Common drips include heparin, nitro, diltiazem, amiodarone, 3%, and insulin
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: days 1:4-5, nights 1:5-6
• Nurse aides are available on the unit
• Central monitoring is located in a different area

Orientation

• 1 shift of general orientation
• 1 shift with a preceptor

Additional Notes

• Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local
• Any solid color scrubs are allowed
• Clinicians who have ever worked for this facility must have an end date at least 6 months before submission
