Description

  • Role: ICU/Telemetry Registered Nurse
  • Contract Length: 13 Weeks
  • Shift: 12-Hour Nights
  • Hours: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours/Week

Experience Required

  • Minimum 2 years of ICU/Telemetry nursing experience
  • Must have completed at least 1 prior travel assignment
  • First-time travelers are NOT accepted

Required Certifications

  • BLS
  • ACLS

Required Clinical Skills

Candidates must have experience with:

  • Chest tube management
  • Wound VACs
  • Dressing changes
  • Monitoring femoral arterial sheaths
  • Caring for post-cardiac catheterization patients
  • Blood product administration
  • BiPAP management

Preferred Skills

  • Arterial line (A-line) management
  • Impella device experience
  • Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) experience

Required Medication/Drip Experience

Must be comfortable managing:

  • Diltiazem
  • Amiodarone
  • Lasix
  • Nitroglycerin (Nitro)
  • Heparin

Patient Population

Cardiac

  • Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
  • Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS)
  • Atrial Fibrillation with RVR
  • Post-Cath patients
  • TR Band management
  • Femoral approach catheterization patients
  • Femoral arterial sheaths (travelers monitor but do not remove them)

Critical Care

  • Respiratory Distress
  • BiPAP patients
  • ICU overflow
  • Telemetry patients

Medical/Surgical

  • Diabetes Mellitus
  • CVA (Stroke) overflow
  • Vascular surgery patients
  • Abdominal surgery patients
  • Gastrointestinal (GI) surgery patients

Charting System

  • Epic

Floating

  • Required to float to:
    • ICU-level units
    • Lower-acuity units throughout the hospital (within scope)

Weekend Requirement

  • Every other weekend

On-Call

  • None
