ICU Registered Nurse

Overview

• Location: Nampa, Idaho
• Setting: Intensive care unit
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights
• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Hours per week: 36

Required Qualifications

• Active RN role
• 1 year of ICU experience
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification
• NIHSS certification
• Must be able to titrate drips
• Must be a team player

Assignment Details

• Patient ratio: 1:2
• Unit has 10 beds
• RNs are expected to read strips
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Floating may be required to telemetry and to other ICU units in nearby locations
• Weekend coverage may be required as needed
• Holiday coverage may be required if needed
• No call or standby requirement

Clinical Focus

• Common patient types include heart failure, respiratory failure, sepsis, ventilated patients, GI bleeds, strokes, TPA, post-code patients, pneumonia, and post-surgical complications
• Common drips include propofol, levophed, dobutamine, vasopressin, fentanyl, epinephrine, and diltiazem
• Respiratory support available includes vents, high flow, and BiPAP

Support on Unit

• Charge nurse does not take patients
• CNA support is available
• Hospitalist is on site 24/7
• Intensivist is available via telehealth 24/7
• Respiratory therapists are in the ICU 24/7

Additional Notes

• Unit-specific orientation is 1 to 2 shifts, depending on experience
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
