Description

Position Details

  • Specialty: LPN – Behavioral Health / Psychiatric
  • Unit: Behavioral Health
  • Unit Size: 10 beds
  • Patient Ratio: 8:1 nurses; 12:1 MHTs
  • Documentation: Meditech
  • Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per day, 7 days/week, including weekends
  • Days Off: Not guaranteed unless specifically stated in the contract
  • On-Call: None
  • Floating: C/L utilized based on greatest staffing need
  • Certifications Required: BLS & CPI

Required Skills & Responsibilities

  • Assess patients' mental health status and recognize signs of psychiatric disorders, substance use, and behavioral concerns.
  • Obtain thorough patient histories, observe patient behavior, and utilize appropriate assessment tools.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients with mental health and behavioral needs.
  • Administer psychiatric medications and monitor patients for side effects and adverse reactions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of psychotropic medications and their effects.
  • Provide crisis intervention for patients experiencing suicidal ideation, aggression, or other behavioral emergencies.
  • Utilize appropriate de-escalation techniques and medication interventions during crises.
  • Build trust and rapport with patients through therapeutic communication, active listening, and empathy.
  • Monitor patients for physical and psychological changes, including vital signs, mental status changes, and medication effects.
