Description

As an L&D RN, you support labor, delivery, and immediate newborn care, collaborating with obstetricians and the care team to ensure safe and patient-centered outcomes. You work in perinatal settings with emphasis on monitoring, comfort measures, and postpartum transition planning. Responsibilities Monitor labor progress, fetal status, and maternal condition; assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries. Provide labor support, pain management, and intrapartum nursing care. Perform newborn assessments and initial stabilization as needed Educate expectant families on childbirth options, breastfeeding, and postnatal care Document obstetric care, medications, and outcomes in the EHR Coordinate with physicians, anesthesia, and lactation consultants for care continuity Support discharge planning and newborn follow-up guidance Qualifications Education strong BSN preferred; ADN or nursing diploma acceptable with obstetric experience strong Licensure Current, active Registered Nurse license in the United States

 Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Experience or Skills: Experience in labor and delivery or perinatal nursing; strong assessment, patient education, and newborn care skills Experience 2 years in obstetric/gynecology or perinatal care

Experience in intrapartum and postpartum nursing

Experience documenting in the EHR and coordinating with neonatal and surgical teams

Preferred Perinatal certification or comprehensive OB training

Experience with neonatal stabilization and lactation support 

 

Work Environment Delivery suites and L&D units; high patient turnover and critical decision-making requirements

Shift patterns may include day, night, and on-call coverage; documentation in the EHR is essential for perinatal records
