Description
Medical Technologist / Lab Generalist
Shift: Days
Weekends: No weekend requirement
Call: Possible call as needed; traveler must be willing
EMR: Strong Epic experience required
Job Overview
Seeking a Lab Generalist with Phlebotomy experience. The traveler must be highly proficient with Epic EMR and should not be submitted without strong Epic experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory testing across all clinical laboratory departments.
- Collect, process, and receive specimens including blood, urine, fecal, and body fluids.
- Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection for patients of all age groups.
- Perform complex laboratory procedures and identify deviations from expected results.
- Troubleshoot and resolve laboratory testing issues using scientific principles.
- Analyze quality control data and take appropriate action to maintain accuracy and precision.
- Review instrument indicators and temperature monitors.
- Answer questions regarding test results, methodologies, test sensitivity/specificity, and factors affecting results.
- Participate in evaluation and implementation of new laboratory techniques and procedures.
- Maintain competency in laboratory skills and procedures.
- Support laboratory initiatives, policies, and quality standards.
Preferred Equipment Experience
Experience with the following is preferred but not mandatory:
- Abbott Alinity
- ACL TOP 350
- GeneXpert
- Beckman Coulter
- TORCH
- Clinitek
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field, or Associate’s degree for grandfathered personnel.
- CLS or MT (ASCP) or equivalent certification.
- New MT graduates must pass the certification exam within 6 months of employment start.
- Strong Epic EMR experience is required.
- Lab generalist and phlebotomy experience required.
