Senior Pharmacy Operations Technician / Pharmacist – Operations Lead
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Pharmacist / Pharmacy Operations Lead to provide clinical, administrative, and operational leadership for pharmacy services. The ideal candidate will have strong hospital pharmacy experience, demonstrated management capabilities, and a commitment to regulatory compliance, patient safety, quality improvement, and efficient pharmacy operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct, manage, and supervise daily pharmacy operations to ensure high-quality service delivery in accordance with professional, regulatory, and governmental standards.
- Develop, implement, and monitor operational and financial performance measures and integrate results into quality improvement initiatives.
- Develop, implement, review, and update departmental policies, procedures, and operational processes.
- Evaluate pharmacy programs and services and proactively identify opportunities for continuous process improvement.
- Supervise, coach, and develop pharmacy staff through timely feedback, performance management, training, and professional development.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate pharmacy information systems, computerized dispensing systems, and related technologies to promote efficiency, accuracy, and data integrity.
- Oversee pharmaceutical purchasing, inventory control, and medication supply management to ensure cost-effective operations and appropriate product availability.
- Assess staff learning needs and coordinate training and educational opportunities to support professional growth and competency.
- Prepare monthly operational and progress reports, identify areas of concern or improvement, and provide recommendations to leadership.
- Participate in departmental orientation, on-the-job training, quality assurance programs, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Maintain current professional knowledge and competencies through continuing education and participation in hospital and departmental educational programs.
- Ensure pharmacy operations comply with applicable federal, state, regulatory, accreditation, and organizational requirements.
- Support medication safety, quality assurance, and patient care initiatives throughout pharmacy operations.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from an accredited school of Pharmacy required.
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) preferred.
- PGY1 Pharmacy Residency preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of professional pharmacy experience, with at least 2 years of management or supervisory experience.
- Minimum 2 years of hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
- Current, active, and unrestricted Pharmacist license required; Arizona Pharmacist License preferred.
- BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
- Experience with pharmacy information systems, computerized dispensing systems, purchasing, inventory management, and pharmacy operations preferred.
- Current authorization to administer immunizations, vaccines, and emergency medications preferred.

- Proficiency with pharmacy information and medication dispensing technologies.
Compliance Requirements
- Must maintain a current and unrestricted Pharmacist license throughout the assignment.
- Must obtain and maintain required BLS certification within the specified timeframe.
- Must successfully pass all required background and drug screening.
- Must comply with all applicable organizational, regulatory, and professional standards.
