Position Overview:

San Carlos Apache Healthcare Center is seeking an experienced Inpatient Pharmacist to join its pharmacy team. The Pharmacist will provide safe, timely, and accurate medication services while supporting inpatient and emergency department needs.

The ideal candidate will be a team player, reliable, flexible, self-motivated, and patient-focused, with strong clinical knowledge and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review, verify, and process medication orders and prescriptions accurately and in a timely manner.
• Provide inpatient and emergency department pharmacy support as needed.
• Ensure medications are dispensed in accordance with established policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
• Process and maintain controlled substances according to regulatory requirements and facility policies.
• Counsel patients regarding medications, including proper use, dosage, potential interactions, and precautions.
• Maintain current knowledge of medications, drug therapies, and clinical pharmacy practices.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, technicians, and other healthcare professionals to support safe and effective patient care.
• Respond appropriately to medication-related questions and clinical needs.
• Utilize pharmacy automation and electronic health record systems to support medication management.
• Assist with medication dispensing, verification, inventory management, and other pharmacy operations.
• Maintain accurate documentation and records.
• Follow all facility, state, federal, and pharmacy regulatory requirements.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism at all times.
• Remain flexible and assist in other pharmacy areas or functions when needed.
• Participate in quality assurance, education, and departmental initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BS Pharm) and/or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited school of pharmacy.
• Current, active, unrestricted Pharmacy license in a U.S. state.
• BLS certification required
• Hospital/Inpatient pharmacy experience required.
• Ability to work variable shifts, including nights, weekends, days, and swing shifts.
• Strong medication knowledge and clinical judgment.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Must successfully pass required background and drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2+ years of clinical pharmacy experience preferred.
• Previous inpatient/ER pharmacy experience preferred.
• ACLS certification.
• PALS certification preferred; PALS may be obtained onsite.
• Experience with automated medication dispensing systems and pharmacy technology.
