Description
Position Overview
Seeking an experienced ICU RN to provide high-quality care in a 20-bed ICU. The RN will care for high-acuity patients and must be comfortable managing ventilated patients, cardiac monitoring, and critical-care medications.
Requirements
- Recent ICU experience
- BLS and ACLS required
- NIHSS required
- CCRN preferred
- Basic critical-care course preferred
- Strong IV skills
- Must be comfortable reading and interpreting telemetry strips
- Must be comfortable managing ventilated patients and the ABCDE bundle
Patient Population
Common cases include:
- Sepsis
- DKA/hyperglycemia
- COPD
- CVA
- GI bleeds
- Post-surgical ICU patients
- Cardiac patients
- Patients requiring medications such as norepinephrine, propofol, and Versed
Patient ratio: 1:2
Floating Requirement
Travelers are first to float and may be assigned to:
- Tele
- Med Surg
- Tele floors
When floating, the traveler may be expected to take a full patient assignment of 4–5 patients.
Travelers may also be deployed to the ED to care for boarded ICU patients.
