Registered Nurse — Med Surg

Location

• Uniontown, Pennsylvania

Contract Length

• Nights, 12-hour shifts

Hours

• 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• BLS certification
• Must submit a copy of an unexpired driver’s license
• Any hits on a professional license must be disclosed at submission

Schedule Requirements

• Every other weekend
• Must work 2 Fridays per schedule
• Holidays are worked into the permanent staff holiday rotation

Unit Details

• Med Surg unit with 28 private beds on one unit and 29 private beds on another
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6–7
• Floating is limited to other Med Surg units
• One shift of orientation with a preceptor

Patient Population

• Primarily post-surgical and orthopedic patients
• Also cares for medical-surgical patients, pneumonia, dialysis, palliative care, hospice, end-of-life, and low-volume inpatient chemo patients
• Must be comfortable caring for both “clean” and “dirty” patients on the same unit

Clinical Notes

• Remote telemetry patients may be present, but there are no monitors on the unit
• No nurse strip reading required
• May manage heparin and possibly MSO4 for comfort measures
• No cardiac drips
• Bipap, CPAP, and high flow are managed by respiratory therapy

Dress Code

• Navy blue scrubs
• Navy blue jacket if worn
