Position Overview

Mosaic Life Care is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a Med-Surg travel assignment. The traveler will primarily work on the Med-Surg unit but must have Stepdown experience and skillsets.

The unit is a 48-bed adult Med-Surg/telemetry unit with a patient ratio of approximately 1:5.

Schedule

• Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
• 3x12s or 4x12s
• Block scheduling available
• No call required
• Free parking

Patient Population & Common Diagnoses

The unit cares for adult and geriatric patients with conditions including:

• Joint replacements
• Fractures
• Post-op neurosurgery
• Stroke/TIA
• Seizures
• Falls
• Weakness and pain
• Post-op infections
• COPD and pneumonia
• Cellulitis, abscesses, and osteomyelitis

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• Med-Surg experience
• Stepdown experience/skillset required
• Telemetry experience
• Epic experience preferred
• Previous travel experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Experience with a patient ratio of approximately 1:5

• Blood product administration
• IV starts and IV management
• Heparin and insulin
• IV insulin protocols
• Wound care/Wound Vac
• Surgical drains
• PCA
• Feeding tubes
• Phlebotomy
• Oxygen administration
• BiPAP
• Post-neurosurgery care
• CVA/stroke care
• Ortho trauma and total joint replacement

Certifications

• BLS
• CPI
• NIHSS
• RN state license or Compact license
• Pending license may be considered at submission but must be active and in hand before the start date
• BSN preferred

Compliance & Important Details

• RTO must be provided at submission
• Traveler's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility
• Locals are accepted at a reduced rate
• Previous facility employees must be separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• COVID-19 vaccine not required
• Flu vaccine required; medical/religious exemptions accepted
• Modules are non-billable and completed during orientation
• Up to 4 hours of module time is included in the NBO

This is a strong opportunity for an experienced Med-Surg RN who also has Stepdown/telemetry skills and is comfortable caring for a 1:5 patient ratio.
