Location: Needham, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Schedule: 40 hours per week | 10-hour shifts
Pay Range: $30–$45.15 per hour
Work Setting: Onsite
Sign-On Bonus: Up to $10,000

Position Overview

Boston Children’s Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join its Operating Room team in Needham. This is a full-time opportunity within a collaborative, family-centered perioperative environment.

The Surgical Technologist will prepare and maintain the sterile field, organize instruments and supplies, and provide direct support to surgeons and circulating nurses throughout surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, organize, and arrange sterile instruments and surgical supplies
  • Pass sterile instruments and supplies to the surgical team during procedures
  • Maintain the sterile field and follow infection-prevention standards
  • Anticipate the needs of surgeons and other members of the operating room team
  • Assist circulating nurses with maintaining adequate sterile supplies
  • Collect and remove contaminated instruments and materials after procedures
  • Support room turnover and preparation for subsequent surgical cases
  • Collaborate with nurses, surgeons, anesthesia staff, and other perioperative team members
  • Participate in required short-call coverage

Qualifications

  • At least one year of Surgical Technologist experience is preferred
  • Pediatric operating room experience is preferred
  • Strong understanding of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and operating room procedures
  • Ability to work 10-hour shifts and participate in short-call requirements
  • Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills

Candidates must meet at least one of the following requirements:

  • Hold a certificate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program
  • Have been employed as a Surgical Technologist in a surgical facility on or before July 1, 2013
  • Have completed a surgical technology training program through the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, or U.S. Public Health Service

Sign-On Bonus

A $10,000 sign-on bonus is available for eligible full-time hires who have more than one year of direct operating room experience as a Surgical Technologist and have not worked for Boston Children’s Hospital within the past two years.
