PACU Registered Nurse

Overview

• 13-week contract
• Day shift
• 10 hours per day, 40 hours per week
• Location: Wheeling, West Virginia

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse license
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Unexpired driver’s license copy must be included with submission
• Any licensing hits must be disclosed at time of submission

Schedule

• Primarily 10-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday
• Start times vary
• Must be flexible and stay until cases are completed
• May be asked to work 12-hour shifts depending on department needs

Work Setting

• PACU covering inpatient recovery, outpatient recovery, surgery center, and anesthesia clinic
• Blend of Phase 1 and Phase 2 recovery
• May recover ICU patients except open-heart cases
• Handles general, neuro, thoracic, cath lab, radiology, and simple procedures

Floating / Coverage

• May float between inpatient PACU, outpatient PACU, surgery center, and anesthesia clinic

Call / Weekend / Holiday Expectations

• No weekends or call for the 10-hour day schedule described
• Holiday call rotation applies for permanent staff in the unit overall

Orientation

• 2–3 shifts of floor-specific orientation

Additional Notes

• Scrubs are provided except for the anesthesia clinic, where navy blue scrubs must be supplied by the staff member
• 24/7 respiratory therapy and in-house pharmacy are available
