Facility: San Carlos Apache Healthcare Center
Location: 103 Medicine Way, Peridot, AZ 85542
Setting: Hospital / Outpatient Pharmacy
Shift: Variable – Days, Evenings, Nights & Weekends
Call: None

 

Position Overview:

San Carlos Apache Healthcare Center is seeking an experienced Pharmacist to join its pharmacy team. The position primarily supports outpatient pharmacy services, with the flexibility to provide inpatient and Emergency Department (ER) coverage as needed. Candidates must be adaptable to changing work locations, duties, and schedules based on department and patient-care needs.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and dispense prescriptions accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Review medication orders and prescriptions for appropriateness, accuracy, and safety.
  • Counsel patients regarding medications, including proper use, dosing, precautions, and potential interactions.
  • Process and manage controlled substances in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and facility policies.
  • Provide pharmacy support to inpatient and ER services when needed.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support safe and effective medication therapy.
  • Maintain current medication knowledge and apply appropriate clinical judgment in patient-care situations.
  • Utilize pharmacy technology and automated dispensing systems to support efficient and accurate medication distribution.
  • Assist with inventory management, medication availability, purchasing, and pharmaceutical product control.
  • Participate in quality assurance, educational programs, orientation, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with professional, regulatory, and organizational standards.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to work across different pharmacy areas and schedules based on operational needs.

Pharmacy Environment:

  • Robust pharmacy operation serving approximately 1,000 prescriptions per day.
  • Approximately 6–7 outpatient pharmacists.
  • Supported by outpatient clerks, pharmacy technicians, and billing staff.
  • Pharmacy utilizes:
    • ScriptPro Pharmacy Management System
    • SP200 Robot
    • RPMS Electronic Health Record
    • Omnicell Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs)
    • Omnicell Carousel
    • Kirby Lester Counting Machine
  • Pharmacy supports outpatient services, clinical teams throughout the hospital, community outreach, and specialty clinics.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited school of Pharmacy and/or PharmD.
  • Current, active, and unrestricted Pharmacy license; Arizona license preferred.
  • BLS certification required from AHA.
  • Hospital pharmacy experience required.
  • Ability to work in outpatient pharmacy and provide inpatient/ER coverage when needed.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
  • Strong medication knowledge, clinical judgment, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to successfully pass required background and drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of clinical pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Inpatient/ER pharmacy experience preferred.
  • ACLS and PALS experience/certification preferred; PALS may be obtained onsite.

Schedule & Facility Requirements:

  • Shifts may include days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
  • No routine call requirement.
  • Must be flexible to work where needed, including outpatient, inpatient, and ER pharmacy services.
  • Lunch breaks are required.
  • Overtime requires manager approval/signature.
  • Call-outs require at least 2 hours' notice to the manager or pharmacy.
  • Client may cancel one shift every two weeks.
  • Housing: No pets are permitted on the housing property.
  • Dress Code: Caribbean Blue scrubs or business professional attire; closed-toe shoes required.
