We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical/Trauma to provide high-quality care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in a busy Level I Trauma and acute care setting.

The RN will care for patients admitted from the Emergency Department, Operating Room, and ICU, including trauma and acute care surgery patients. Responsibilities include comprehensive assessments, medication administration, cardiac monitoring, IV therapy, wound care, respiratory support, and management of post-operative and trauma patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to medical-surgical and trauma patients.
• Care for patients with trauma, acute care surgical conditions, TBI, spinal cord injuries, orthopedic injuries, and post-operative needs.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor changes in condition.
• Administer medications including heparin, insulin, and PCA medications.
• Perform cardiac monitoring and interpret/manage dysrhythmias.
• Start and maintain peripheral IVs and manage central/PICC lines.
• Administer blood products and perform phlebotomy.
• Manage chest tubes, surgical drains, wound vacs, traction, and external fixators.
• Provide respiratory support including CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, oxygen therapy, and suctioning.
• Provide wound and isolation care while following infection-control procedures.
• Document patient care accurately in EPIC.
• Respond appropriately to rapid response and emergency situations.
• Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Float within the service line as needed.

Requirements

• Active RN license; pending license accepted.
• Minimum 3 years of experience required for screening; 5 years preferred/required by posting.
• Recent Medical-Surgical and Trauma experience required.
• Previous travel nursing experience required.
• Level I Trauma experience required.
• BLS/BCLS and ACLS required.
• EPIC experience required.
• Strong cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management skills.
• Must pass the facility's Relias EKG exam.
• Trauma, telemetry, IV therapy, blood product administration, wound care, and respiratory care experience required.
