Assignment Details

• 13–14 weeks
• 12-hour nights, 36 hours per week
• Unit: Candler 4N
• 12 beds
• Nurse-patient ratio: 1:4–5 depending on acuity
• Combo unit of Med-Surg and Stepdown / PCU and Med/Tele beds
• Self-scheduling allowed
• Every other weekend required
• Holidays required
• No call or standby
• No floating
• Navy scrubs

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a hospital of similar size and acuity
• Minimum 1 year of PCU experience in the last 3 years, documented on the resume
• Solid PCU skillset
• Successful completion of at least 1 travel contract
• Active license at time of submission
• AHA BLS
• Current NURSYS report with no license hits
• Must pass clinical resume review
• Resume must include number of beds and trauma level for all facilities worked within the past 3 years
• Resume must include employment type for all facilities worked within the past 3 years
• Resume must include number of shifts worked per month if PRN
• Full availability, including all requested time off
• Start date aligned with compliance timelines
• Current references within the same specialty/modality as the role
• Onboarding must be completed at least 7 calendar days prior to the start date
• Local candidates are not accepted

Preferred

• At least 1 completed travel assignment

Unit Notes

• Common diagnoses include Med-Surg, Sickle Cell, and heart failure
• Telemetry experience is required on the unit
• PCU nurse will titrate drips; set-rate drips are common
• No phlebotomy; RNs draw their own labs
• Charge nurse takes an assignment
• Nurse aides are present, ratio 12:1
• Respiratory equipment includes nasal, face masks, and BiPAP
• Tele/monitor techs are not on the unit; monitoring is on the 3rd floor
• RNs do not read their own strips
• Tele monitors are Space Lab
• Orientation includes one day of computer skills with a basic knowledge assessment test and two shifts with a preceptor
