Medical Laboratory

Overview

Contract role in Carbondale, Illinois
Night shift: 7 on / 7 off, 1830-0630
Training is on day shift, 0600-1430, for 2-3 weeks
Hematology Department

Required Qualifications

Medical Lab Technician (2 years of experience)
Medical Lab Technician experience within the last year
MT(ASCP)
Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree for grandfathered personnel
Blood bank experience

Responsibilities

Collects, processes, and receives specimens for analysis across clinical laboratory departments
Evaluates and solves problems related to specimen collection and processing
Participates in evaluating new laboratory techniques and procedures
Performs complex laboratory procedures and corrects deviations from expected results
Analyzes quality control data and takes action to maintain accuracy and precision
Answers inquiries about test results, methodology, specificity, sensitivity, and factors affecting results
Reviews instrument indicators and temperature monitors for laboratory departments
Maintains self-competency in laboratory skills
