Surgical Technologist (OR Tech)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Surgical Technologist (OR Tech) to join the Operating Room team at PEN. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in General, Neurological, and Robotic procedures and be comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Hiring Process
- Initial Profile Review: MedSol Clinical Team
- Facility Interview: Unit Manager
- Radius Requirement: 60 miles
- Driver's License: Required at submission
- Orientation: Clinicians must be physically in-state for the full week of orientation, even if the first day consists of remote modules.
Licensing & Certifications
- Colorado DORA License – Required
- BLS – Required
- CST – Required
Operating Room Details
- Department: Operating Room – PEN
- Number of OR Suites: 16
- Average Cases: Approximately 30 cases per day
Common Surgical Cases
The OR provides exposure to a broad range of surgical specialties, including:
- General Surgery
- Orthopedics
- Robotics
- Neurology
- Spine
- Urology
- ENT
Required Experience & Skills
Candidates must have strong hands-on experience in:
- General Surgery
- Neurological Surgery
- Robotic Surgery
Experience working efficiently in a high-volume OR environment is strongly preferred.
Scheduling
- Schedule: Set schedules
- Block Scheduling: Option available
- Weeknight Call: Approximately 120 total call hours per contract, self-scheduled between weekday and weekend coverage
- Weekend Requirement: One weekend shift every 6 weeks
- Holiday Call: Preferred, but not required
Call Requirements
- Call Response Time: 30 minutes
- Sleep Room: Available on-site for clinicians who need to remain at the facility during call coverage
Floating
- No routine floating
- In an extreme staffing situation, the clinician may be asked to float within Zone 1, including:
- PEN
- SFH
- SFI
- SMC
- STM
Orientation
- 1 week of department-specific orientation
Scrubs / Dress Code
- Scrubs provided by the facility
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a licensed and certified Surgical Technologist with strong experience in General, Neuro, and Robotic procedures. The candidate should be dependable, technically proficient, comfortable with call responsibilities, and able to work effectively within a high-volume surgical team.
